This week in NYC, the frenetic energy in the air is suggesting we’re all collectively holding our breath, scared to exhale lest we run smack dab into someone dressed as the Grim Reaper coming off the 6 Train or think too long about the election looming over us.
👻 The real fright. 👻
Anywho, I think what we all need right now is a bit of feel-good fun in our lives. Cozy TV, books to get lost in, activities to do for a hit of dopamine, you know?
Take this intro. Art, it is not.
My brain feels gooey and all I want to do is bake apple cider bread loaves, go into what my husband calls “Mochi Mode” where I curl into him on the couch while we binge-watch television, and, how you know something is really + truly up, nap.
Alas, I am here!
I sincerely thought about skipping this week’s issue but then thought, “What if something I’m taking comfort in can offer someone else comfort, too?” and as you’ve likely heard me say one million times, I do sincerely believe we’re better off in community.
So, I hope this issue brings you a moment of coziness + that you feel a warm hug radiating from the screen (it’s from me!)
Happy Halloween!

✨ When I need a moment of reprieve, I’ve been flipping on Max + watching Ina Garten’s Show, Be My Guest. She is a well-researched interviewer, and the conversations she has with her guests over delicious drinks + light bites are always insightful and easy to listen to. I just finished Season One, and it was also fun to see her favorite spots around her East Hampton home! P.S. I’m currently reading her newly released memoir, Be Ready When the Luck Happens, and it’s also so cozy to read!
✨ Nadiya Hussain won the Great British Bake Off in 2015 and has been taking the culinary world by storm with her cozy cooking since. Her show, Nadiya Bakes, sadly only has one season but is the ultimate escape baking show. I could watch her whip up pavlovas and mini pecan pies for hours (and I have!)
✨ Oh, Martha. Her Netflix documentary came out yesterday and has already been devoured by moi. Hearing about her life was intriguing, and I hope to never ever cut an orange in front of her (IYKYK) but I agree with Ms. Stewart herself that R.J. Cutler could have included some juicier tidbits. I think this means a memoir should follow… no?
Apparently, getting lost in the baking/cooking world is a major way I cope with times of strain! Here are three recipes I love for Autumn (and you likely have the ingredients in your pantry).
You can find a guided relaxation meditation, here.
If you’d like to take action alongside a friend, I’ll be phone baking Sunday at 4EST for Vice President Harris.

THE ART OF SENSUALITY
When one hears the word “sensual” images of erotic closed-door memories often flash to mind.

THE ART OF GETTING DRESSED
The summer before sixth grade, my parents bought a home a town over from our current digs, which meant I would start at a public school the Tuesday following Labor Day.

I just finished Ina’s memoir and loved it SO much 🥹 I actually listened to it, her voice is so comforting and I was sad when it was over. So lovely!
